Willie Nelson Golf Tournament Adds More Celebrity Swingers

Willie Nelson will celebrate the re-opening of his Texas Hill Country 9-hole golf course to the public on June 30, by hosting the 1st Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament at the Pedernales Cut N Putt Golf Club in Briarcliff, Texas. The tournament will benefit four central Texas charities: Pedernales Fire DepartmentHelping Hands Ministries of Spicewood, the Children’s Music Foundation of Austin, and the RunTex Carrozza Foundation, which supports children’s health and overall fitness.

In addition to various golf options and food, an all-day concert will be held, featuring Paula Nelson, Sonny Throckmorton, Folk Uke, Zach Edwards, Jeena & Her Band of Brothers, Billy Joe Shaver and Jamey Johnson. More artists are expected to be announced soon. Celebrities and local personalities joining Willie in attendance will include Josh Grider, Greg Hamilton, Amy Nelson, Bobby Boyd, Ray Benson and Earl Campbell.

Events will also include a silent auction beginning at 11:00 AM with many special one-of-a-kind items, including donations from Willie himself. Golf events of the day will start with three Shotgun Willie starts, speed golf at 10:00 AM, followed by two rounds of six-man 9-hole scrambles. The day will end with a friendly Night Life Golf competition to begin after a beautiful Hill Country sunset.

Willie Nelson’s Pedernales Cut N Putt Golf Course spans the hilltops near the Pedernales River in western Travis County, Texas. The 9-hole course is owned by Willie Nelson and operated by golf pro Fran Szal, and is described as “a relaxing and refreshing divergence from the formal country club scene” with an emphasis on playing golf to have fun.
